A Note on Crushing and John Gardner

Crusher did not and Crusher will not crush John Gardner. He--John Gardner, not Crusher--crushed his own head. Crusher doesn't know if it was something personal or not. He--John Gardner, not Crusher--fell off a motorcycle while it was moving forward at a high rate of speed. Relatively, anyway. Relative to the speed of the earth's revolution? Not such a high rate of speed. Relative to the speed of your sprinting 50 yards? Then it is rightly called a high rate of speed. Anyway. Gardner wrote some very good books. And some that were not very good. This isn't something he should feel bad about, were he alive and with an uncrushed head. He--again, John Gardner, not Crusher-- should, though, feel bad about those pictures of him with too-long hair, thoughtfully sucking on a pipe. Boy, does he look like a tool in those pictures. This is not to speak ill of the dead, Crusher asserts. Crusher feels bad about a lot. Some of those things involve his--Crusher's, not John Gardner's--hair. None involves a pipe, please note.
